School Resource Officer Ed Sedlock was presented the “Going The Distance” award from the Spencer County Public School System. Taylorsville is blessed to have Officer Sedlock and Officer Wheatley. With most K-12 school personnel fully vaccinated and coronavirus cases falling across the state, Kentucky public schools have begun to resume somewhat normal operations. Masks, social distancing and handwashing will continue to be a part of this school year, but by March 17 all of Kentucky’s 171 school districts had resumed in-person classes. Scott High School Senior Class purchased items for their veterans’ program. Items will be distributed in the local VA Hospital and USO lounge at CVG Airport. Items were purchased with money donated by KYASRO, KY FOP 10 and money collected from the community.
A School Resource Officer (SRO) with Pulaski County Schools has been recognized by the Kentucky Association of School Resource Officers as 2020 Rookie of the Year. John Anderson may be a rookie SRO but he has 24 years active and reserve service with the U.S. Navy as well as 27 years with Fish and Wildlife departments in Florida and Kentucky. The ability to understand and label feelings helps students to communicate their needs and build resilience.
