SAFE SCHOOLS AND COMMUNITIES CONFERENCE

Hosted by the Kentucky Center for School Safety

This two-day event is FREE OF CHARGE and is open to law enforcement officers, school administrators, and school personnel. Registration is closed. Contact Alicia.Lombardi@ksba.org to be placed on the waitlist. Attendance to this conference does include membership to the Kentucky Association of School Resource Officers (KYASRO) and the Kentucky DARE Association for law enforcement participants. EILA credit is pending for educators.

    Bob Couchman, Retired Cyber Crimes Investigator and Director of Training at Cyber Cop Mike, State of the Cyber Union
    Michael Morgan, officer in the U.S. Marine Corps, a Special Agent and eventual senior executive in the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Senior Vice-President and Chief Security Officer for a Fortune 500 company, We Build Cathedrals
  • Join us for an informal social event held on Wednesday, June 21st from 6:00 – 8:00 at the Mule Barn, Arlington Country Club in Richmond. Come gather for networking, barbeque, and music. All conference participants are welcome! FREE OF CHARGE. 
  • Law enforcement award ceremony the afternoon of June 21st
  • Some breakout sessions will be presented on the following topics:

Mental Health Issues – Sessions will be offered on working with special populations of students.

School Law Update – A school law update will be provided for school-based law enforcement and school personnel. 

Social Media Trends – Multiple sessions will review current trends in social media and how social media is related to social media trends and human trafficking.

Threat Assessment Updates – Presenters will discuss the development and function of a school-based threat assessment team. 

What Keeps You Up at Night Regarding the Safety in Your School? – An open discussion with Jon Akers will cover various topics with school administrators and law enforcement officers. 

In addition to other breakout sessions, updates will be presented from the School Security Marshal’s Office, on the mandatory SRO training, and on principal mentoring and SRO mentoring programs.
