As many of you prepare for the start of a new school year, the Kentucky Center for School Safety (KCSS) is pleased to announce a new resource designed to assist school districts in recruiting qualified School Resource Officers (SROs).
After receiving requests from several districts seeking assistance in filling vacant SRO positions, KCSS has added a dedicated page to our website where districts can advertise open School Resource Officer positions. Currently, eight SRO vacancies are posted, and we hope this resource continues to grow as additional districts participate.
To help maximize its reach, we are working with a team of law enforcement professionals to share this resource with law enforcement agencies and associations across the Commonwealth. Our goal is to make current officers—as well as retired officers interested in continuing to serve—aware of this centralized location for SRO employment opportunities.
If your district has an SRO vacancy and would like it posted on the KCSS website, please send an email to KCSSrecruitment@ksba.org with the following information:
- District name
- Whether the position is full-time or part-time
- Salary or pay information
- Point of contact (name, email address, and phone number)
- Any additional details applicants should know (such as preferred qualifications, retired officers encouraged to apply, number of contract days, benefits, etc.)
Note: We will start the posting on the date the request is received and close the posting after 90 days. We will remove the posting sooner upon request by the school district.
Posted positions can be found on the KCSS website under the ‘SRO JOBS’ heading, located on the bar at the top of the webpage or at Kentucky SRO Jobs.
We hope this collaborative effort helps districts connect with qualified applicants and ultimately results in more School Resource Officer positions being filled throughout Kentucky.
