The Kentucky Council for Children with Behavior Disorders (KY-CCBD) is hosting the KY Behavior Institute conference on July 14-16, 2024 at the Lexington Central Bank Center (Convention Center) in Lexington, Kentucky.

Over 100 sessions in 16 strands will focus on research and evidence-based practices to help schools and districts improve the academic, behavioral, social-emotional and mental health outcomes for all students, with a focus on prevention and intervention strategies for supporting students with Emotional-Behavioral Disorders (EBD) and challenging behavior.

National speakers will share keynote sessions focused on trauma-responsive practices, social-emotional learning, school-based mental health, cultural competence, schoolwide positive behavior interventions and supports, tiered classroom strategies, and school safety. All sessions are led by invited speakers who are state, regional, or national experts in the field. The goals of the Behavior Institute are to:

  • Promote quality educational and mental health services for children and youth with or at risk for learning and behavior disorders, who exhibit emotional dysregulation or problem behavior in schools.
  • Promote support networks for parents, educational professionals and their interagency partners who support students with or at-risk for emotional and behavioral disorders.
  • Provide research and evidence-based practices around creating success for students with chronic absenteeism, challenging externalizing or internalizing mental health / behavior problems or emotional-behavioral disorders (EBD).
  • Provide practical examples of successful school implementation of strategies to support students with or a risk of learning, social emotional and behavioral disorders, intellectual disabilities, ADHD, and autism spectrum disorders (ASD).
