Anderson Promising Program

The Kentucky Center for School Safety named Anderson County Schools one of only three 2023 Promising Programs in the commonwealth for their school resource officer (SRO) program.

Anderson County Schools has had at least one SRO for about the past 20 years, the current SRO program at Anderson County Schools was developed as a partnership between the Anderson County Board of Education led by Superintendent Sheila Mitchell and the Anderson County Sheriff Office, Joe Milam, Sheriff in 2017. This program has placed an SRO at every school in the Anderson County School District.

The mission of the School Resource Officer program is to help improve school safety, security, and the educational climate at the school. Anderson County School’s SROs are truly an integral part of the fabric of the school district.
